About your teacher:
Nancy Van Maren
Nancy fell in love with French at a young age, listening to a sister practice her French for a college class. This early taste of the beauty of the language, lit on fire by an enthusiastic and engaging high school French teacher, led Nancy to France as a Rotary Exchange student her senior year in high school. Her host family soon became her French family, with whom she has developed a deep and enduring friendship.
Nancy then minored in French in college and spent a summer working in French-speaking Rwanda (central Africa) during graduate school. Fluent in French and passionate in her appreciation for other cultures, Nancy made another professional trip to French-speaking Africa, this time as a consultant for the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Nancy continues to travel frequently to France and host members of her French family on their trips to the United States.
Nancy is now teaching while raising a family in Billings. She occasionally gets called to help prepare students headed overseas, as well as help French citizens here in Montana.
Nancy�s other passion is music. She serves on the board of the Montana Music Institute, a week-long music camp for children in Billings, MT. Nancy has seen the benefits of early introduction of music and language for young children. She is excited to share her passions, to introduce young ones to the beauty of the French language, and to begin their lifelong appreciation of other cultures.
