About your Teacher: |
Erin Douglas was introduced to foreign
languages and culture at an early age. Her family hosted an exchange
student from Denmark when she was young and she took Spanish classes
before foreign languages were introduced at school. In high school she
became interested in French when her family hosted an exchange student
from Belgium. After graduation she traveled to Tournai, Belgium with the
Rotary Student Exchange Program where she lived with French speaking
host families, attended a Belgian high school and traveled much of
Europe. Spending a year in Belgium, living with native French speakers,
gave her basic French language skills.
Erin attended the University of Minnesota in Moorhead, where she took
French classes from Concordia College and participate in the Concordia
Language Villages on the weekends. Her junior year she attended
Université de Sherbrooke in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. While her
declared major was Mass Communications and Advertising, she was always
attentive and passionate about French as a way to integrate cultural
diversity into her education.
Erin has been living in Billings since 2003. She and her husband would
like to teach their children to speak French and develop a love of
foreign culture. Music Lingua is a way for Erin to introduce her
children and other children in her community to the French language. She
hopes to instill a love and appreciation of foreign languages, foreign
travel and cultural diversity in the children and families she comes
into contact with through Music Lingua.
